    What this licence covers

    The International Sportsperson route is for internationally established sports players and coaches who will be making a significant contribution to the development of their sport at the highest level in the UK.

    This route is suitable for professional sports clubs, national teams, sports governing bodies, and organisations hosting international sports events.

    Endorsement comes first

    The endorsement from the governing body must be obtained before you apply for your sponsor licence. Each sport has its own governing body with specific endorsement criteria.

    Application process

      Obtain governing body endorsement

      Contact the relevant UK sports governing body and obtain their endorsement for the player or coach.

      Prepare documentation

      Gather required documents including proof of endorsement, organisation details, and compliance systems.

      5 working days

      Submit sponsor licence application

      Complete the online application and submit the required documents within 5 working days.

      8 weeks

      Home Office review

      Wait for a decision — 8 weeks standard, or 10 days with priority service.

    5. 5

      Assign Certificates of Sponsorship

      Once licensed, assign a CoS to endorsed sports professionals.
