    What this route covers

The Secondment Worker route enables workers to be seconded to UK clients under high-value contracts or service provisions. This route is for workers fulfilling contracts between overseas businesses and UK organisations.

Unlike other GBM routes, this is not based on intra-company transfers but on contractual relationships between separate entities.

    Contract value requirements

    Annual contract value
    £10 million+
    Total contract value
    £40 million+

The contract must have an annual value of at least £10 million paid by the UK business to the overseas employer, or a total value of at least £40 million over its entire duration.

    Key requirements

    • High-value contract between the overseas employer and the UK client
    • Maximum stay: 5 years in any 6-year period
    • No minimum salary threshold
    • Must work on fulfilling the specific contract
    • Can bring dependants
    • Cannot lead to settlement

Pay still has to meet UK law

There is no minimum salary threshold on this route, but the worker must be paid in accordance with UK employment law, including minimum wage requirements.
