What makes up the cost of a UK visa

Almost every UK visa cost is made of the same three parts: the Home Office application fee for the route you are applying on, the Immigration Health Surcharge for the whole length of the permission granted, and any optional priority service. Employers add the sponsor licence fee, £239 per Certificate of Sponsorship and the Immigration Skills Charge for each sponsored worker.

The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is £1,035 per person per year at the standard rate and £776 per person per year for students, their dependants, Youth Mobility Scheme applicants and under-18s. It is charged in six-month blocks across the visa length, paid at the point of application, and refunded if the application is refused or withdrawn.

Dependants normally pay their own application fee and their own IHS, so a family application multiplies quickly. Use the calculator below to total the fee, the surcharge and every applicant for one specific case.
