Sources and attribution: where our immigration guidance comes from

The sources we work from

Our guidance is built from published primary material. These are the sources we use, in the order we rely on them:

The Immigration Rules and Statements of Changes — the rules themselves, as published by the Home Office on GOV.UK.
Home Office caseworker guidance — how the Rules are applied in practice, including sponsor guidance for licensed employers.
Published fee tables — Home Office visa fees, the Immigration Health Surcharge and the Immigration Skills Charge, with their effective dates.
The register of licensed sponsors — the Home Office CSV of organisations holding a sponsor licence, which we mirror for our sponsor lookup.
Salary and occupation data — SOC 2020 occupation codes and the going rates published for sponsored roles.
Tribunal and court decisions — reported decisions where they settle how a rule is read.
GOV.UK service pages — retrieved through the GOV.UK content API, which gives us the page's own last-updated date.

GOV.UK material and the Open Government Licence

Where a page reproduces or closely follows GOV.UK content, that material is Crown copyright and is reproduced under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Those pages carry a source note naming the GOV.UK page and the date GOV.UK last updated it.

Reproduction under the OGL does not imply that the Home Office or GOV.UK endorses this site, our practice or our commentary. Our own analysis is clearly ours and is not part of the licensed material.

Figures, thresholds and dates

Fees, salary thresholds and surcharges are held centrally in dated data sets and rendered into pages and calculators from there, so the same figure cannot say two different things in two places. Where a figure has a known effective date, the page or tool shows it.

If a published figure has changed since a page was last reviewed, the page is out of date and we want to know — see corrections.

Machine-readable provenance

We publish the same provenance in a machine-readable knowledge bundle, so that AI assistants and other automated consumers can see where a statement came from, when its source was last modified, and whether a human at the practice has reviewed it. Content no one has signed off is marked unverified rather than dressed up as reviewed.

Structured data on our pages names Wesbridge Associates Limited as publisher and, on reviewed articles, records the review credit and date.

Citing this site

You are welcome to quote or link to our guidance, including in AI-generated answers. We ask that you:

attribute the material to Wesbridge Associates and link to the page it came from;
quote figures together with the date shown on the page, because fees and thresholds change;
do not present our general guidance as advice given on a reader’s own facts; and
