How do I check if a company has a sponsorship licence?

Search the employer name here. The results come from the published Home Office register of licensed sponsors, so if the organisation appears it currently holds a licence — the entry shows the routes it covers and its A or B rating. Try shorter search terms and the trading name as well as the registered name, because organisations are listed under the name they gave the Home Office.

What does the licence rating mean?

An A-rating is a sponsor in good standing. A B-rating means the Home Office has found compliance failings and the sponsor is on an action plan — they can still sponsor, but the licence is at risk, and so are the visas attached to it.

The employer is on the register — can they sponsor me?

Not necessarily. The licence must cover the right route, they must have a Certificate of Sponsorship available to assign, and the specific role must meet the skill and salary rules. Being listed is necessary, not sufficient.

How current is this list?

It mirrors the published Home Office register, which is updated regularly. Sponsors are added and removed frequently, so check again close to the point of application.

The employer is not listed — what now?

They cannot sponsor you until they hold a licence. If they are willing to apply, that typically takes under eight weeks, or ten working days on the priority service — we handle those applications.
